Boys 8U Preseason Practices
by posted 02/17/2020

Hi, all -- if you are receiving this email your son has signed up to play for FCYLC this spring in the boys' 8U league. My name is Chris Green -- I have a son, James, who will be playing again this year. This is my second season coaching on the boys' side -- I coached last year at 8U as well.

We will be playing in the McLean House League again this spring. For those unfamiliar with the McLean House League, we play 8v8 on a smaller field -- there are typically four to six teams in the league and we typically play on Saturday afternoons at the McLean High School football field. I am not sure of our exact time slot at this time, but I think we start playing games a little over a month from now. The league tends to have kids of all skill levels and my experience is that it is a fun, low key, developmental league.

I recognize that many of the boys are still finishing up a winter sport right now -- that said, we would like to start holding a few practices over the next couple of weekends to shake the rust off and use the field turf at George Mason High School while it is available. With that in mind, we will have practices as follows over the next two weeks:

Saturday, February 22 from 3:30 to 4:45 pm at George Mason HS (football field)

Sunday, February 23 from 3:00 to 4:15 pm at George Mason HS (football field)

Saturday, February 29 from 3:00 to 4:15 pm at George Mason HS (Football field)

Sunday, March 1 from 12:00 to 1:15 pm at George Mason HS (football field)

I completely understand if your son is unable to make all of these, but I do ask that you please respond to the attendance inquiries that will be sent for each game and practice. The Club likes and expects the coaches to communicate through the club's email system -- so that is primarily how I expect I will communicate information to you all.

I expect that some of you may be renting equipment. Please let me know if you are and we will coordinate a time with the club's equipment manager to pick up your rental equipment. Ideally, we will try to do this sometime on Saturday -- more details to follow.

Two final housekeeping matters. First, if you know of any other boys that might be interested in playing, please feel free to pass along the attached flyer to them. Last year we were able to field two teams, but as of now, we currently have enough for just one team. Second, if anyone is interested in helping coach, please let me know. A background in lacrosse is not required or necessary -- but an extra set of hands and eyes could be very helpful.

I think that is all for now. I look forward to meeting you and your boys over the next couple of weeks.

Best regards,
